Madhurika with Gold, Bronze and Pooja with 2 Silvers, Bronze - Star performers at Championship

In 78th Senior National & Inter-State Table Tennis Championships, 2016 , Madhurika Patkar (X Thane) won her first Championship in Womens category. First seed Madhurika played too good as per expectations and beat six-time Champion Poulomi Ghatak 4-0 (11-5,11-9,11-5,12-10). Madhurika took on 5th seed Manika Batra to win 4-2 (7-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-8, 10-12, 11-8) in Semi-Final. Madhurika is getting trained under coaching of Mrs. Shailaja Gohad Madam at Booster Academy.



In other Semi-Final Poulomi Ghatak beat Pooja Sahasrabudhe 4-0 (11-8, 11-5, 12-10, 11-8). Thus Pooja (X Thane) won the Bronze Medal.

Maharashtra Girls A Team bagged Silver medal. Shruti Amrute from Thane was part of this Maharashtra Girls A Team along with Pooja Sahastrabuddhe (X Thane), Priti Mokashi (X Thane), Charvi Kawle (Thane Club Player) and Shrushti Halengadi.



Maharashtra A Team played extremely good to win Semi-final. They clashed with top team of PSPB. It was a real tough match. Pooja gave flying start with win over Madhurika Patkar. Charvi lost to Mouma Das. The 3rd match was crucial which Shruti played with Mousumi Paul and won same with 3-0 score. Now Maharashtra has lead of 2-1 in match. The first reverse single was now again important because second reverse single match was with Madhurika. But again Pooja shown great temperament and won decider with Mouma Das. Thus Maharashtra A Team enter the Finals.

The finals was with West Bengal Team. But West Bengal team won 3-0 and Maharashtra team won Silver Medal.

While Madhurika playing from PSPB team, won Bronze medal.

Pooja also bagged Silver medal in Mixed Doubles. Her partner was Sanil Shetty.

Overall this tournament was very good for Thane players. Congrats to all players.
